Question: What services do the hutmaster provide?
Answer: Our hutmasters are onsite to make your visit safe and enjoyable, and to make you feel at home. During storms, they move, blow, and shovel a ridiculous amount of snow. They are very knowledgeable about the surrounding terrain and love talking all things backcountry. They are not waiters, cooks, guides or maids.

Question: What bedding is provided? What else do I need to bring?
Answer: Mattresses are provided, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag or quilt. Click here for a complete suggested gear list.

Question: Are drones allowed?
Answer: Drones are not allowed without express written permission from Truckee Donner Land Trust on any Land Trust properties - click here to learn more.

Question: Are there showers, or can I bathe in Frog Lake?
Answer: Showers are not available at the Frog Lake Backcountry Huts. In the summer, Frog Lake is great to jump in for a refreshing dip, but please do not use soap – biodegradable or otherwise – in the lake, as they can still negatively impact the water quality. Learn more here.
