A new section of the Donner Lake Rim Trail will be completed in 2018. The Land Trust's trails team is working on the north side of I-80, planning a trail between the Glacier Way trailhead and Northwoods Boulevard. The trail will then meet the Trout Creek paved trail and continue to downtown Truckee. Construction will begin later this fall.

On the south side of I-80, the Land Trust, California State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, and Placer County are planning the alignment for the remainder of the trail linking Donner Memorial State Park and Donner Summit. Although work on this section is a couple of years behind the northern portions, the vision to hike a full 23 mile Donner Lake Rim Trail will come to fruition soon.

We welcome your support of the “Adopt a Quarter Mile” program as the Land Trust invests in this already popular community resource.
