Johnson Canyon Name Change Now Official!

Truckee Donner Land Trust is excited to announce that Johnson Canyon, formerly known as Negro Canyon, has been renamed by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. Since acquiring the property, the Land Trust has called the land Johnson Canyon, after the black resident that lived at its base. Thanks to the Town of Truckee, Truckee River Watershed Council, Truckee Donner Historical Society, the U.S. Forest Service, and all of you who readily adopted the change as you visited the land and trail.
