As the Truckee Donner Land Trust works to raise $10 million for Truckee Springs, our volunteer Bridge Committee is exploring the options and design possibilities for the planned pedestrian bridge that will span the Truckee River from West River Street to the property.

Here’s an update on the planned bridge:

  • A stressed ribbon bridge is the committee’s preferred type for spanning the distance without footing in the river and to get across the flood plain while minimizing visual impact

  • To clear the flood plain, the pedestrian bridge will be more than 200 feet long

  • The bridge will start from what was once Nevada County’s corporation yard, proposed by the Town of Truckee to be a public space

  • Bridge Engineer Charles Redfield, has begun work on the design
