As the snow began to melt in the spring, our stewardship crew went full speed at opening our trails, starting at lower elevations and working their way up, in order to meet the needs of people wanting to safely get outside. Of course Truckee Springs was a big part of 2020 for the Land Trust, and our sign, “Coming Soon … Nothing” helped us bring awareness to the riverside project in a time when we couldn’t host in-person events.

Truckee Springs will open the southern side of the Truckee River in the downtown core to the public and preserve it as open space for all to enjoy - we’re calling it “the Wild Side of Downtown.”

Thanks to our volunteer Truckee Springs Committee for all the hard work so far (and plenty of time on Zoom), we look forward to finishing strong and protecting the property in 2021!

Webber Lake Campground proved to be a popular option for folks looking to get away and recreate responsibly this summer.

We also made a lot of progress in preserving the Webber Lake Hotel, a great piece of California history dating back to 1860.

In partnership with Truckee Trails Foundation, we built a new nature trail in Lower Carpenter Valley, including boardwalks designed to protect the valley’s sensitive habitat.
