It's Easier to Deduct Your Gift to the Land Trust This Year

Did you know that under the CARES Act - part of the pandemic relief program passed in March - individual taxpayers can take a deduction of up to $300 for cash donations made in 2020 when filing in the spring? While in a normal year, you’d need to itemize to do so - rather than taking the standard deduction - this year you’ll be able to make a donation for charitable giving even with the standard deduction.

This means bigger tax savings for you, and critical end-of-year support for the Truckee Donner Land Trust. This rule only applies to cash, check or credit card donations - but gifts of stock, IRA disbursements, and donor advised funds have their own benefits you can read more about by clicking on each one.

While we’ve tried to make each option as easy as possible, we’re also happy to help talk through the best option for you. Give us a call at (530)582-4711 or email us at kate@tdlandtrust.org. While we’re talking, feel free to ask for a hike recommendation or a new place to explore in 2021 - we’re always eager to share.

Thanks for making a year-end donation today to support the protection of more open space, the construction of more trails, and the preservation of why we all love this special corner of the Sierra Nevada.
