SPRING 2019 WEBBER LAKE UPDATE
With reservations open and summer around the corner, the Truckee Donner Land Trust is getting a lot of calls and emails about camping at Webber Lake.
The Sierra Nevada received more than 150% of normal snowfall over the winter of 2018-19, and sitting at over 7,000 feet, Webber Lake was buried over the winter. The good news is all that snow means lots of water in the lake this summer, but also means it is taking longer to open than an average year.
As of late May, the road has not been plowed all the way to Webber Lake, and Land Trust staff has had limited access to the property and campground. Our goal, weather dependent, is to start opening campsites on a limited basis in the first and second weeks of June, and we expect to have the campground entirely open by the end of the month.
If you already have reservations for early June, we'll reach out to you directly to find the best option that works for you.
The lake will be stocked with Lahontan cutthroat trout as soon as the road is clear, and it will be a beautiful summer to get out on the water, hike in Lacey Meadows and to pitch a tent in the campground.
Campers will be able to reserve our new group campsite this summer - perfect for reunions, retreats and multi-family campouts. We'll also be working on refurbishing the popular Webber Lake House, and hope to begin renovations on the historic Webber Lake Hotel.
