Truckee Springs Update: Neighborhoods Stepping Up
Fundraising to protect and open Truckee Springs continues full speed ahead, with more than $1.1 million raised to date in private donations by the local community, and more than $4 million from government agency and nonprofit grants.
Friends and neighbors are banding together too - collectively raising money on behalf of their neighborhoods or homeowner’s associations. The nearest neighbors to Truckee Springs - the residents of South River Street - were the first to come together, hosting a socially distanced barbecue with a presentation from the Land Trust - netting more than $90,000 to date!
Similarly, Ponderosa Ranchos, not far above the property, hosted a Zoom Happy Hour with Land Trust staff, pooling together $35,000 and counting toward the project. Truckee Donner Land Trust’s Board and Staff are hugely grateful to these two neighborhoods, and look forward to seeing who’s next. Tahoe Donner? Glenshire? Downtown? If you want to bring together your local community, contact the Land Trust and we’d be happy to present Truckee Springs to your friends and neighbors via Zoom or however is most appropriate.
